Text is slow or incorrect

Check recognition, vocabulary, replacements, and cleanup.

Try a short, non-sensitive sentence in TextEdit. Review the completed text before sending it anywhere.

Slow or inaccurate recognition

  1. Check that your microphone is receiving audio. Check mute, distance, and background noise.
  2. Wait until TessFlo is listening before speaking. Stop after finishing the sentence.
  3. Check Settings → Models. This release supports English dictation; a vendor’s broader language list does not apply to TessFlo.
  4. Try an installed alternative with the same sentence. Model names do not guarantee results for every voice.
  5. Notice where the delay occurs: starting, transcription after Stop, or cleanup. Close other memory-heavy work to compare. TessFlo may pause preparation or cleanup when memory is limited.

Captions are previews and can differ from the finished text. A delayed preview alone does not prove audio was lost; check the final result and any capture error.

A saved spelling does not correct the words

Check the saved form in Writing tools → Vocabulary. Vocabulary changes matching recognized text; it does not teach the model a new sound.

If TessFlo consistently hears a different phrase, save a word replacement for that recognized phrase.

A replacement is missing or surprising

Open Writing tools → Word replacements and check that the rule saved. Compare the original with the recognized text, including spacing, punctuation, and whole-phrase boundaries.

Remove conflicting originals or variants and test one simple rule. Existing structured text is protected, and replacement output does not run through another rule in the same dictation.

Cleanup is unavailable or changes meaning

Open Writing tools → Writing cleanup. Check that Light Cleanup is installed, its agreement is accepted, and Improve completed dictation is on.

It needs at least 12 GB of physical memory and can pause under memory pressure. Protected addresses or codes, short text, and rejected corrections may be left unchanged.

If wording changed incorrectly, turn cleanup off and compare. Use Restore recognized text in History if offered. Correct text already pasted elsewhere separately. Always check the result; cleanup can change meaning or introduce errors.

If the problem continues, contact support with the affected stage and a fictional example. Do not send confidential text or recordings by default.
