Choose the symptom below. Start with these checks before resetting permissions or deleting data.
If the shortcut does nothing
- Check that TessFlo is open. Start from Home or the TessFlo menu. If that works, the shortcut may be the problem.
- Check Settings → Recording → Dictation shortcut. It may differ from the initial Option+Space default.
- Try another key combination and test it in TextEdit. Check for conflicts with macOS or other apps.
- Look for active processing, unfinished cancellation, an update installation, or a TessFlo Pro access message. Follow that status before trying again.
If recording starts but there is no level
- Open System Settings → Sound → Input, select your microphone, and speak. If the meter stays flat, check mute, connection, charge, and input selection.
- In TessFlo, select the device or Automatic under Settings → Recording → Microphone.
- Enable the recording overlay so you can see the level.
- Allow TessFlo in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Return and try a short recording.
- If a Bluetooth or docked input is reconnecting, wait until it is listening. Try the built-in microphone to isolate the problem.
Stop and check the result. No audio level is different from a working microphone with inaccurate text.
If starting or reconnecting does not finish
Check that a speech model is installed. Read any preparation, microphone, or permission message. The first model use may take longer.
Use Cancel if needed and wait for it to finish. Try a short recording with a known-working microphone. Changing microphones does not require deleting models.
A disconnect can leave missing words that TessFlo cannot recover. Stop remains available during recovery; finish the captured portion and start again when the device is stable.
If it repeats, contact support with the device, connection type, macOS input-meter behavior, and exact time. Finish or cancel current work before relaunching TessFlo.
